Professor of Psychology

David Sheffield is a Professor of Psychology at the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care. He is also Head of Research and Director of Professional Psychology Programmes at the University of Derby Online Learning. He also supervises PhD and Doctorate students. David's work has helped us to understand the impact of stress and pressure on health, wellbeing and performance.

Lou has worked at the University of Derby since December 2008. She is a Senior Lecturer and mainly teaches and assesses in stage 3 of the BSc Adult Nursing Programme. She is also the Placement Lead for BSc and MSc Adult nursing programmes.

As a part-time Senior Lecturer in Psychology, Dr Simon Sherwood teaches on a variety of foundation and undergraduate psychology modules. He is interested in the psychology of the paranormal, with a particular interest in hauntings and apparitions and experimental investigations of dream ESP.

Karin Spenser is Discipline Lead: Head of Forensic and Health Psychology and has both academic and professional experience in the field. From an academic perspective, her focus is on quantitative research methods, the paradigms of psychology, working with sexual offenders, offenders with mental or intellectual disabilities, and women veterans.

Lecturer in Psychology

Carol is a lecturer in Psychology on the campus BSc Psychology programme. Dr Stalker is the Level 4 lead for the programme and also teaches across the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Dr Stalker is an active researcher, currently researching acceptance approaches in patients with chronic kidney disease and compassionate approaches in higher education.

Amy is an art psychotherapist and postgraduate researcher working with The Beeches Mother and Baby Unit in order to design, deliver and draw data from an art psychotherapy intervention with mothers.

Senior Lecturer in Psychology

Paul is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Derby. He has been teaching psychology for the past 27 years, initially at the University of Manchester, then at Staffordshire University and from 2006 here at the University of Derby.
